Tola Taiwo, is Founder of ‘Know Your Culture’ podcast and platform. She describes herself as a Nigerian diasporan, living in deep Devon, England. ‘Know Your Culture’ – is a platform and podcast for promoting a patterned culture that speaks truth into our everyday lives. True to the word culture, we’re here to foster a lifestyle and take hold of joy-filled habits of focus and rest, together. ‘Know your culture’ is here to be grounded in gospel truth, that shares ideas and artforms that peel away the ‘go go go’ mentality of today.
Tola juggles medical training, mentoring, being a society chair, audit research, family commitments, relationships, friendships, and maintaining a property. She often feels like she has to squeeze in time to “relax”, to be still, to write and play music! Although this is definitely not a self-help podcast, she hopes true joy can come from patterns of godly rest and communion together.
How did Tola find the programme?
“I’ve really enjoyed the course – which has included a fantastic community, relatable advice, and coaching. I came into the course feeling completely out of my depth and overwhelmed with all the resources out there for starting a podcast. And I also had the scary idea of trying to append a business to my podcast too. I looked at all the amazing women starting “real” businesses and felt so happy for them but I felt a little like I was completely out of my element. We started the course with mental health and resilience and it really set the tone. It helped me get out of my head and start focusing on having that essential growth mindset. I really appreciated the melding of Back her business support with Natwest snippets, which further drove home the importance of asking yourself ‘what’s your focus?’ It’s hard to choose but the sessions I gained the most from were the business model canvas live webinar, the advanced communication webinar, the Social media marketing webinar, and the pitching salon.”
