On Thursday 11th October, Jeremy Corbyn visited Bristol to express his commitment to adjust the history curriculum taught in schools to be broader and less Euro-centric. He further mentioned his party’s support for a new Emancipation Educational Trust to educate next generations about slavery, the fight for its abolition, and the role of the British Empire and colonisation.
Upon his arrival at the City Hall, Mr. Corbyn viewed the 'Alone with Empire' exhibition in the vestibule, before meeting with Cllr. Thangam Debbonaire, Deputy Mayor Asher Craig, chair of Bristol’s Commission for Race Equality Desmond Brown, and our director Sado Jirde. Following his visit, Mr Corbyn impressed how vital the work of BSWN was to the region. To read the Bristol 24/7 article detailing his visit, please see here.
