We are BSWN, a driving force for racial justice!
We are a Black-led racial justice organisation based in Bristol that supports the development of dynamic, independent, and strong Black and Minoritised communities, businesses, and organisations to flourish whilst challenging systemic barriers. We drive racial equity in the UK society’s dimensions of research, policy, innovation, socio-economics, and health through a collective and meaningful community-led approach.
Are you an artist or culture producer in the West of England?
Find out more about our CultureBiz Connect programme, delivered in partnership with Diverse Artist Network (DAN) and Creative Powertown, which aims to understand and respond to the needs of artists and cultural producers in the West of England through a three-pronged approach of understanding the needs and barriers present in the sector, crafting development programmes for creative businesses, and distributing a small grants programme to support growth and ambition in the sector.
Interested in our policy work?
Our policy department contributes at the root of our mission to support the development of dynamic, independent, and strong Black and Minoritised communities, businesses, and organisations in the South West. It reveals the barriers to accessing opportunities, and highlights local and regional needs, enabling us to design and improve our projects in order to catalyse change and have a tangible impact.
If you would like to produce something, please provide an outline title and summary with key points to our Senior Policy Officer, at Angelique@bswn.org.uk
Interested in our community sector development work?
Our Community Sector Development team supports Black and Minoritised grassroots community groups and organisations to have better access to information and support, greater involvement in shaping local services, to create positive changes in their communities, to achieve their full potential, and to become sustainable for the future.
If you would like to access support from our team or have any questions, please contact our Community Development Worker at community.development@bswn.org.uk.

A special blog by Gary Thompson of Cables and Cameras!
This blog post recalls my experiences on the day of the conference, sharing what is happening in the archival community in London and throughout the United Kingdom. I also want to express my thanks for the support from The New Black Film Collective and BSWN in giving me the opportunity to attend the conference.
